“Melone spoke to Cnet’s Marguerite Reardon at Mobile World Congress this week and expressed his dismay at Microsoft’s claim to being the third strong mobile ecosystem. “I do want a strong third OS out there,” Melone said. “It gives the carriers more flexibility and balances the interests of all the parties. But I still have doubts whether Microsoft will get the traction they are hoping for with Windows Phone 7.”
“I don’t think Verizon needs the Nokia and Microsoft relationship,” he said. “Right now the three OS players we see for our network are Android, Apple, and RIM. “
Excited is not the word (more like nauseous), I just wonder what ways they will find to screw WP7 over to make these comments a reality so they can pump their android and apple lines.
It’ll be interesting what kind of marketing is done for the Trophy. I will say that Verizon has had excellent marketing strategies for both Android and now the iPhone. Having only 1 Windows Phone device gives Verizon a great chance to design a marketing campaign highlighting the Trophy features. Lets see how it fall shakes out.
FINALLY!!!
After using WP7 I can understand why the experience is better than the iPhone.
Yep, you probably wont see any commercials for it. I don’t know why VZW backstabbed MS on the Kin, with the high assed data plans. But it is guaranteed they wont put any effort on selling the ONE WP they will carry.
@Murani Lewis: I think you are being a tad delusional! Why would Verizon market this device? It is a HTC Trophy – the most drab WP7 device in the entire launch line up! Besides, Verizon only markets what they feel is going to be their best sellers – i.e. Droid, iPhone4; they don’t market BB, Pre, etc. Hope the device sells well for those that have been waiting for WP7 on Verizon, but this device doesn’t exude ‘exciting or wow, gotta have’.
