Windows 8 (RT) to get upgrades to Mail, Calendar, Music, and Games this month
|I hate the email client on Windows 8. It’s unusable on my Surface as I’ve griped in the past. Music and Video aren’t far behind. Well, according to ZDNet’s sources we are going to get an update this month for Win8 Pro and RT. I’m just hoping for usability. You know, make them as good as the Windows Phone apps – that’s a fair starting point yet something they are shy of. Apparently Outlook for RT is having battery issues. I’d still like to have it even if that meant I had to manually turn it on/off to sync when needed…at least based on the current Mail app and its status which forces me into webmail. via http://www.zdnet.com/microsoft-to-update-its-core-windows-8-apps-well-before-blue-7000012217/

mind telling me why the mail is unusable?

I’ll quote myself:
The mail app is slow as shit. Even hitting send it is a few seconds watching things spin. Hyperlinks don’t open (it doesn’t recognize them). Even though you get notifications, when you open the app it’s always opening for the first time and you need to wait for it to do anything. Search sucks in it. If you hit the share charm then your signature block is put above the message. I use webmail on my Surface…they forced me to.Oh and if I want to forward an email with attachments I need to download the attachment and then it sends from the Surface. Why? There’s a fucking server…forward from server like all mail does. Otherwise it’s an incomplete attachment. Pathetic.
if you have more than one computer running with you Microsoft Account, the mail shows empty emails sometimes on one of the system and it takes a while for it refresh those. i see it happen a lot of times on my Surface RT, Pro and VivoTab RT. I don’t see this issue on my Lenovo and hadn’t seen this on HP DV6 either.
Minesweeper, Solitaire, and Mahjongg crash. A LOT. Useless p.o.s.
+1 Works just fine for me.
Adding to DavidK’s rant, why does it take four clicks to move a message to a folder; click message, right click screen, click Move, click folder. With Outlook.com and Windows Live all I need to do is drag the file to the folder. Why? Wasn’t this interface designed for touch.
I am sure this piece of writing has touched all the internet visitors, its really really good post on building up new webpage.
