Google Employees to see a 10% raise next Year

In a hard economic climate here in the United States with rising costs, health care increases, high unemployment, and the falling US Dollar, it’s nice to see one large company giving back to their employees. Google’s Chief Executive Eric Schmidt announced yesterday to 23,000 employees via email that they would see a 10% pay increase at the start of next year. That is now in addittion to the  $1,000 holiday bonus that was announced last month as well.

“While we don’t typically comment on internal matters, we do believe that competitive compensation plans are important to the future of the company,” a Google spokesman said in an email.

While this is the Season of giving, Google may have something else in mind. Nothing boosts employee moral like extra money and the one thing Google can’t let happen with the fierce internet war going on is is loose any talent to the competitors. Google’s Chief Financial Officer Patrick Pichette said on a call with analysts last month that the internet industry is waging a “war for talent.”

Hey it’s good to be in demand, and if you are a Google employee, it looks like they aim to keep you happy!
