Apple claims they wont add Siri support to other devices
|With the rumors circulating that Apple is testing Siri on the iPhone 4, it has left many of us hopeful that Siri could make an appearance in a firmware update for devices other than the iPhone 4S.
One Apple customer emailed concerning this rumor, and Apple responded by saying that, “we currently have no plans to support older devices.”
According to an email forwarded to developer Michael Steeber, a customer emailed Apple about bringing Siri to more iDevices. The message was then said to have been sent to Engineering at Apple, and the following response was given:
Engineering has provided the following feedback regarding this issue: Siri only works on iPhone 4S and we currently have no plans to support older devices.
The email says that Siri only works on the iPhone 4S, but we know this is not true. Recently, hackers have ported Siri the iPhone 4 and iPod Touch 4G and even the iPhone 3GS. Unfortunately, this hack can not be publicly distributed due to legal problems that would be sure to follow.
Its a shame because I want it on my wife’s iPhone 4 and our iPad and iPad 2.
I’ll just make due for now with it on my iPhone 4S 🙂
So long Apple! That is the one feature I really got excited about on iOS5. Oh well for the one customer they loose, I am sure they will gain 10 more so I don’t believe I will be missed. I really hope At&t gets the Nexus Prime.
