Asus and Acer Scale Back Ultrabook Orders: No Shock–No Marketing = No Sales
|I just read BGR/Digitimes reports that Acer and Asus have reduced their expected sales of Ultrabooks. If you haven’t seen them, these are MacBook Air specs and form factors with slightly lower prices. But if you’re a PC person then these devices are pretty hot, super light, super thin, powerful enough and light on batteries as well.
So why aren’t they flying off of shelves? Well no one even knows they exist. I mean, you may know your Zenbook from your Samsung Series 9 and your Acer S3 but that’s cause you read tech blogs (sorry, I’m with you but we’re a niche and we all know it). Until you see these things on tv and show them coming out of a manila envelope and talk about their batteries and price you can’t expect them to sell themselves. Don’t think that blogs are enough.
Get on tv and show me these things and if you’re not willing to do that then just keep slashing sales expectations.
They’re also too damn expensive. Many of these are as expensive as the Air, and a couple are even moreso. Windows PC consumers are used to pay very little compared to Apple consumers. Most PC consumers would balk at paying $1000 for a laptop, when they can get one with the same specs or better for far cheaper. Most are more expensive than we were initially told they would be.
But you’re right they need to be advertised.
I agree with you. I’m please can you help me as I can find the imformation I need. Thank you very much!
