I took a quick trip over to Best Buy today to check out what new shiny hardware I could play with. Unless you’ve been hiding underneath a rock you know today is the day Microsoft released Windows 8. I took the chance to grab a brief hands-on with the Asus VivoTab RT. A 10.1” tablet running Windows RT. It is light, begs to be held and very responsive. It goes for $599.
This clip below shows the ease of multi-tasking and app switching even while in the desktop mode which can clearly be seen. Another neat feature I thought was important to showcase is the ability of the Xbox Music app to intelligently adjust its screen real estate from being “docked” to taking up the main area of the screen when a user wants to find more music to listen to. That makes it a lot easier to navigate and one less thing the end user has to worry about. A small but appreciated polish to the user experience.
