Did You Even Notice The New Theme?
|So for those of you that come here frequently (instead of just reading us on RSS) you’ll notice that we’ve got a new theme that’s a lot cleaner and easier on the eyes. It’s still being tweaked a little bit here and there and a few goodies are in the works. Just like the old site though, if you just want news relevant to your platform you can click the links at top for the subdomains. Oh and now we have a mobile site that’s actually mobile friendly. Amazing for a mobility site, right?
To be clear, I didn’t do anything except criticize their work, but I think the Doug’s (and whoever it was they hired and worked with) did a fantastic job. I’m digging the new theme. Like it? Love it? Got recommendations? Now’s the time cause once we’re done with it there’s no going back…
@adp:
I’m testing to see if it works, maybe it’s just me…hold on 😀
I did.. haha.
btw, can I report bugs on this post? For some reason, the “Notify me of followup comments via e-mail” doesn’t work for me. I never get any email when there are followups…can you guys check into that? thanks guys!!
Great job on the new theme. Loving it!
damnit Dougs fix this! 😉
thanks for pointing it out
OK, it’s definitely not working… I thought maybe I only get an email when someone reply to my comments directly…but nope.. still nothing. Hope you guys can fix it.
Thanks!
I did notice, but to tell you the truth the only thing that stands out now is the ads. the content seems to be secondary. Sorry, but you asked.
Really? The ads stand out that much? I only notice 5 ads total on the whole page and they are mostly moved of to the sides and not in between articles or anything. Maybe their color schemes are brighter which is making them pop out more?
Wow o.O nice theme, i like it! 🙂
@David:
some mobility sites have so many ads on the pages you’re not too sure WHAT you’re looking at.
I tried subscribing to getting comments and it’s working. Worse than that, since i posted the article I get an email telling me there’s a new comment so now I get two;) Under the comment box do you see it say “You are subscribed to this entry”?
previous and next buttons on the article pages please!
those of us with mobility digest in our rss feeds did actually notice it actually because there was items like this in it:
Temporary Post Used For Theme Detection (cb1cc2a8-cc23-449d-a2ba-2eb0e805ac04 – 3bfe001a-32de-4114-a6b4-4005b770f6d7)
from Mobility Digest by Doug Simmons
This is a temporary post that was not deleted. Please delete this manually. (803cadfe-5919-488c-8ede-c76b37bf3ff0 – 3bfe001a-32de-4114-a6b4-4005b770f6d7)
@Lucas LaMonda: you shouldnt have to change the address to get to the mobile site, just put mobilitydigest.com into your mobile and you should see the mobile layout automatically (mobile sites looking excellent as well by the way)
Test comment.

I love the new theme!!
Subscribe to comments via email is working. 🙂
@Jack of Clubs: I know I hate those style detection temporary posts! They give away all our hacking efforts!
On the Ads, I know some people don’t like them, and that’s fine. But they are much needed. We are looking at other advertising opportunities that are less intrusive and that might pay a little better, but these ads are really necessary to keep things going. I pay out a lot of money monthly.
Thanks Steve. Still some more fixing needed. The picture resolution in the featured artcile rotator is still messed up. We are on it. I also will be upgrading the comments in the sidebar with a better plug in. I will most likely duplicate the same plugin that I use at the bottom in the footer.
Please let me know how I can improve the website in anyway. We do value everyones input, and we got a LOT of input in the last 24 hours…

I’m working on it. 🙂
SO what is the address for the new Mobile site that is Mobile friendly?
thanks doug, i thought you were ignoring me for a minute there. sites looking good though, and personally, the ads did not distract me from the info on the site, i think youve got great ads, so great, im gunna go click one 🙂
TBH, I actually like the darker background better, this all-white background seems too bright to be reading articles.
I hate to sound like a total stickler, and the site looks great otherwise, but when you go to the WP7 tab, the Windows symbol up top, in the grey area shows some white pixels that weren’t fully removed.
But other than that, it looks great.
All thanks to me 😀
Don’t worry Max – that’s getting a makeover…that’s just a placeholder for another few days 😉
Good to hear. I promised myself I wasn’t going to bring it up, but then this thread came up, and I saw people were talking about bugs, and I couldn’t control myself any longer.
@Doug Smith:
Haha. I wish I was getting paid off by David. Make a little money for my thoughts and opinions.
Can’t wait to see the new logo. The site looks great.
Very, dare I say it… Web 2.0
ROFLMAO!!!
Max, I know you were paid off by David!! He is wearing me smooth in the WP7 Theme! yo uguys are getting a complete makeover with custom colors and a logo. 🙂
Yeah, I still gotta finish working on the WP7 theme side. But all in all I think the new theme came out well. 🙂
casey, you did the work. free plug time. want to drop your contact info into the comments?;)
What kind of contact info? Don’t really like to give out personal details.
I didn’t create the theme from scratch, just customized a free theme to suit Doug’s needs.
I’ve got to stop going to Vegas, last time I went, my wife cleaned out the checking account and left for parts unknown(if I had known how little it would take for her to leave, I would have given her the money a long time ago). Now I come back and not only is Simmons running from the lynch mob but you go and change my home away from home and what happened to the post count. Did David reach 1000 posts and the site blow up or did you just get tired of him slamming you.
