Optus Reveals A Possible Future Filled With WP7 Xbox360 Promotions
|Down Under’s very own Optus Mobile announced today that it will be giving future Australian Windows Phone 7 (WP7) adopters the chance to experience Microsoft’s two newest products together. The $79 Kinect plan will be $0 at time of purchase and give customers the choice between an Omnia 7 or LG Optimus 7 WP7 powered smartphone bundled with a Xbox 360 Kinect. Optus made it clear that this deal would be exclusive and would only run for a limited time.
If you don’t want to give up your iPhone or have no need for a new device, that’s ok. Optus has also announced the ability to bundle the Kinect with an HP mini netbook and business mobile broadband connection in late October. The Price of the Kinect on these plans is currently unavailable, but Optus promises full disclosure as the launch date approaches.
It’s clear Microsoft is utilizing the marriage of WP7 and Xbox 360 for cross promotion of the two products. As more promotions like the one promised to Optus appear, the more obvious it becomes that MS really put a lot of thought into the WP7 push. This could very well be a sign of what’s to come as MS tries to extend the life of the 360 and claw their way back into the smartphone game. It’s no accident all this is going down this close to Christmas.
